Statistics and safety

High Desert Midwifery's Homebirth Statistics

Statistics for the last 11 yrs and 600 births (2014-2025):

Transfer rate:
Antenatal (Prenatal): 2%
Intrapartum (in labour): 4%
Immediate postpartum: 4.7% 
C-Section rate: 1%
6 newborn NICU admissions
5 Surprise Breech deliveries (4 waterbirths)
Maternal Deaths: 0
Neonatal Deaths: 1

All mothers who transferred Antenatally and in labour were co-managed by an OB or a hospital-based CNM. After birth and once discharged home, I resumed care.    
All clients except two in the postpartum category were discharged back home in my care within 4 hrs of transferring in.
