Occasionally I can accommodate up to 3 hrs outside of Abq. Availability is dependent on how many clients are already due in Abq). I will travel to areas that do not have Home Birth Midwives, otherwise we encourage you to use your local Home Birth Midwife.
  • High Desert Midwifery's fee is collected up front throughout your care. Flexible payment plans available.
  • After your birth/6 week visit, a claim is then submitted to your insurance, if applicable
  • Click here for more info on insurance and billing
  • You must be paid-in-full by the 37th week of pregnancy for us to attend your birth
  • I am no longer a Medicaid provider-meaning I do not accept primary payment from Medicaid for your care/births
  • Monthly prenatal visits until 28wks, every 2 wks until 36wks,then  weekly visits until you deliver. Average time in your prenatal appt: 1, sometimes 2 hrs. Postpartum home visits on day 1 & 4, office visits at 2, 4 and 6 wks. Additional postpartum visits are offered at no extra cost should you need extra support in any way.
  • Average prenatal visits: 12; Average postpartum visits: 4
  • Average newborn visits: 4
  • High Desert Midwives are available 24/7
My practice fills up very quickly! Please do not wait too long to schedule a consult/initial appointment with us. It is not uncommon to reach capacity soon after women find out they are pregnant!
Please note, I am unable to hold due date/spots on the calendar, without a non-refundable deposit, if you are still undecided as I fill to capacity quickly

Late transfers:
  • I accept late transfers in pregnancy, ideally before 28wks, latest being 32wks if I have space.
  • Please note, I will not accept a late transfer at 36 weeks if you have been receiving care elsewhere and you now need to choose your place of birth-it is too late. It also effects allowable billing codes submitted to your insurance for reimbursement-greatly decreasing any possible pay-out.
  • In NM, Licensed Midwives have a large scope of practice, and co-managing care or continuing to see another provider throughout a low-risk, healthy pregnancy is not required, nor is it a normal occurrence when switching to a homebirth.
Midwifery care in a homebirth practice is a much more intimate and tailored experience for mothers and her family.  Time is needed when switching from the medical model to planning a natural, family-centered homebirth where you are in control. We also need adequate time to get to know each other. The highlight of having a homebirth!

"A woman in harmony with her spirit
is like a river flowing.
She goes where she will without pretense
and arrives at her destination,
prepared to be herself
and only herself"
